Teaching

Learning and using languages changes our brains, and, in the face of a constant digital onslaught, it gives us back some control over our own bodies and lives. Growing up bilingual and having lived my whole life in multilingual contexts, I love to accompany people on their language learning journeys.

Since 2021, I have been doing this at the University of Sheffield's Modern Languages Teaching Centre, where I am the Co-ordinator of Slavonic Languages and University Teacher of Russian. I also co-lead the Hub for Heritage Languages and Multilingualism, which organises events and workshops for multilingual educators and anyone who is interested.

I'm a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).

Recent projects

In 2025, I led a translation workshop with students at the University of Sheffield, resulting in the publication of three student translations in the Kazakhstani journal Sozday.

I've previously taught Russian language, as well as Russian and World Literature, Religious Studies & Research/Writing Skills at the University of Toronto, the University of Missouri, Volga State University of Technology, and the University of Tyumen. â€‹
